About the 2026 Symposium
This year’s QBIC Symposium brings together researchers, clinicians, people with lived experience, healthcare professionals, service providers and industry partners for a full day of research, innovation and collaboration. From emerging scientific discoveries to practical improvements in clinical care and long-term recovery, the program explores what we can achieve when we work beyond traditional disciplinary and organisational boundaries.
Under this year’s theme, Beyond Silos, the program will explore how greater collaboration across research, clinical practice and lived experience can help bridge gaps in brain injury care and accelerate the translation of research into real-world outcomes.
Program highlights
- Follow the patient journey: Tracking Sarah’s Journey is a live case study exploring the gaps and opportunities across the entire continuum of care, from pre-hospital treatment to rehabilitation and community reintegration.
- See innovation in action: Discover emerging research, practical clinical advances and updates from QBIC’s collaborative seed-funded projects.
- Live Ecosystem Pitch Blitz Competition: Got an idea that could revolutionise brain injury healthcare? Open to one and all. Present your game-changing idea in just five minutes for the chance to win $5,000 in seed funding to bring your vision to life, with the winning project decided by audience vote. See attached flyer.
- Connect beyond the sessions: Explore the Ecosystem Expo, enjoy interactive activities during breaks and connect with researchers, clinicians, industry partners and people with lived experience from across the brain injury sector.
- Breakfast, morning tea, lunch and refreshments will be provided, with networking drinks to close the day.
About QBIC
The Queensland Brain Injury Collaborative (QBIC) is a coalition of 550+ researchers, clinicians, and people with lived experience of stroke, traumatic brain injury, and concussion.
We break down the silos between disciplines, bridge the gaps along the healthcare continuum, and accelerate research translation through partnership, data harmonisation and shared knowledge. Our aim is to build a connected research ecosystem where scientific discovery translates into improved outcomes for Australians affected by acquired brain injury.
